Getting started

First launch

Sign in once in Jennefer Hub, link sign-in methods safely, turn on two-factor authentication, and walk through the IDE's first-run steps.

On this page

After installation, the Hub opens on Home. Sign in there once. Every Jennefer app on this computer then uses the same account, plan and Credits, so the apps have no sign-in of their own.

Sign in in the Hub#

  1. 1

    Open Hub > Account

The screen says One sign-in for every app. Choose Sign in.

  2. 2

    Sign in in your browser

Your default browser opens the Jennefer sign-in page. Continue with Google, Microsoft or email and password. The Hub shows Finish signing in in your browser. This screen updates by itself.

  3. 3

    Close the tab

The browser says You're in with your first name, and the Hub comes to the front. If the tab was closed too early, choose Open the browser again in the Hub.

Local models work without an account, but sign-in is needed for agent runs, app installs, Studio images and videos, and Cloud.

Your sign-in is kept in Windows Credential Manager on this computer. Your plan is cached too, so it keeps working offline: Hub > Account shows when the plan was last checked, with Check now.

Account linking#

Jennefer never links accounts just because the email address matches. If you sign in with a new method and that email already has an account, the Hub shows This email already has a Jennefer account. with Open the portal and Sign out.

  • In the portal, confirm that the existing account is yours by signing in with its method. The new method is then added to the same account.
  • Your plan, Credits and settings stay together.
  • Linking is blocked if the other account has a subscription, a team or a sandbox.
  • Sign-in methods are listed in your portal profile. The main method cannot be removed, and with two-factor on, removing a method asks for a fresh code.

Two-factor authentication#

Two-factor authentication is optional. Set it up in the portal at portal.jennefer.dev/profile with Set up authenticator and an authenticator app.

Once it is on, sensitive actions ask you to sign in again and enter a 6-digit code: checkout and plan changes, the billing portal, spending limits, creating a cloud sandbox, adding or removing sign-in methods, and deleting your account. After you confirm, you are confirmed for 30 minutes.

First steps in the Hub#

  1. Set up local models. Home shows Set up local models until the local runtime is installed. See Models.
  2. Pick a model. Download one from the catalog and choose Use.
  3. Install an app. On Home, choose Install on an app card, then Open.

The Hub also asks once whether you want to share anonymous usage data. It is off unless you choose Share usage data, and the choice applies to every Jennefer app on this computer. See Privacy and security.

The IDE's first-run steps#

The first time you open the IDE, a short setup runs in three steps. Use Back and Next. To run it again, open IDE Settings > Appearance and choose Run setup again.

StepWhat you do
1. WelcomeSign in to Jennefer, if you have not signed in through the Hub yet.
2. ProjectChoose the project folder. Agents read and write files only inside this folder.
3. First taskDescribe what your agents should do first, or pick a suggestion such as Explain this project, Build a landing page or Find and fix bugs.

For now, the IDE also asks once, separately from the Hub, whether you want to share anonymous usage data. It is off unless you choose Share usage data. See Privacy and security.

Guided tour#

The IDE tour has four stops: Your project, Chat with your agents, Who works on it and Follow the run. To run it again, press Ctrl+K and choose Start product tour.
