Improve a prompt

Rewrite a rough prompt before you send it: the wand button, Alt+E or /enhance in the IDE, Studio, Cloud, Workshop, CLI and CLI+. It never runs on its own, and you can stop it or bring your text back.

On this page

A short prompt such as "login page broken fix" can be rewritten so the agent, the Workshop builder or the image model understands it better. The improved text replaces yours in the box, and you edit it and send it yourself.

Where to find it#

AppHow
IDEThe wand button next to Send, in every chat layout, or Alt+E
StudioThe wand button next to Make, Design or Build, or Alt+E
CloudThe wand button next to Send in the agent team panel, or Alt+E
WorkshopThe wand button in the idea box on Home and in the change box, or Alt+E
CLIAlt+E on the input line, or /enhance <request>
CLI+The wand button, Alt+E, or /enhance <request>

Jennefer Mobile and Hangar do not have it.

Improve, stop and undo#

  1. 1

    Write your prompt

Type it as you would send it. The button is off while the box is empty.

  2. 2

    Improve it

Press the wand button (Improve this prompt (Alt+E)) or Alt+E. The new text streams into the box. It usually takes a second or two.

  3. 3

Stop if you change your mind

While it runs, the button reads Stop improving (Esc). Press it or Esc, and your own text comes back.

  4. 4

    Undo

While the improved text is unchanged, the button reads Bring back your text (Alt+E). Press it or Alt+E to get your text back. Once you edit the text, Alt+E improves it again.

  5. 5

    Send

Edit the result if needed, then send it as usual.

In the CLI and CLI+, /enhance <request> puts the improved version of <request> in the input line. It does not send it.

What the rewrite looks like#

WhereWhat you get
IDE, CLI, CLI+, Cloud, Workshop changesA goal sentence, bullets only when there are several details, and a closing "done when" line. For a vague "X is broken", a question about what goes wrong instead of guesses.
Workshop, a new appWhat the app is for, its main screens (four at most), what you do on each, and the data it keeps. It never picks a technology.
Studio images and videosOne descriptive paragraph in English, because image and video models follow English best.
Studio designs, edits and 3DA clearer version of your request for that mode.
  • It keeps your intent and scope, and adds no features, versions or technologies you did not ask for.
  • Names, paths, versions, links and error messages stay exactly as you wrote them.
  • It answers in the language you wrote in, except for image and video prompts.
  • The result is short plain text.

Which model writes it#

The rewrite goes from the app to the Engine on your computer, not to Jennefer's servers. It uses the app's default model from Hub > Models > Each app, or the Hub default when the app has none. Studio always uses the Hub default. A model you picked for one window or conversation is not used for it. See Model choice.

  • Thinking is turned off for this request, so it is quick.
  • With a model on this computer it costs nothing. With your endpoint, your provider bills the tokens as usual.

What is sent with your text#

AppExtra context
IDE, CLI, CLI+The project folder's name and the files and folders at its top level
CloudThat the team works in a sandbox, the project folder, and whether you want a plan first
Workshop changesThe app's name and description
StudioThe mode, the format or placement, and whether you are editing

FAQ#

Can it improve every prompt automatically?

No. It runs only when you ask, so what you send is always what you saw.

Does the improved prompt cost a build or an image?

No. It only fills the box. Builds and images count when you send.

Why is my Turkish prompt still in Turkish?

The rewrite keeps the language you wrote in. Only Studio image and video prompts come back in English.
