Hangar
Hangar
Jennefer Hangar runs small bots on your computer. Jen builds them from one sentence; they fly on a schedule, on a Telegram message, on a new file or when another bot calls, and ask you before anything risky.
On this page
Jennefer Hangar is a separate app for bots that work on their own: they watch a price, read a page each morning, answer a Telegram chat or sort new files in a folder. You describe the bot to Jen, the Nefer who builds bots, and you decide when it flies.
Words Hangar uses#
| Word | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Bot | One automation: when it flies, its steps, its memory and its limits. |
| Flight plan | The bot's steps, shown as plain sentences on the Plan tab. |
| Flight | One run of a bot, from its trigger to its last step. Each has a step-by-step log. |
| Launch | Turns a bot on. Its triggers start listening. |
| Ground | Turns a bot off at once. A flight in progress stops after its current step. |
| Test flight | Runs every step, but sends, notifies and writes nothing. It shows what would go out. |
| Fly now, for real | Runs the bot once by hand, in the bot's More menu. Cards on the Bots screen have Fly now. |
Build a bot with Jen#
- 1
Tell Jen what you need
On the Bots screen, write in Tell Jen what you need, for example "Read the news page I give you each morning and send me a three-line summary". Or pick a template: Lead triage, Catalog assistant, Weekly post planner, Market alert, Daily digest or Folder watcher.
- 2
Answer Jen's questions
Jen asks for what only you know: which chat, which address, how often. Jen sees the names of your keys, never their values.
- 3
Review the plan
Jen's change appears as Plan changed: with Undo and Save and test. Click any line of the plan to edit that step, or choose Ask Jen to change it.
- 4
Test it
Save and test saves a new version and starts a test flight. Jen explains the flight log in a few sentences.
- 5
Launch it
Choose Launch. Only you save and launch a bot. Jen cannot save, launch or delete one.
When a bot flies#
- On a schedule: every few minutes or hours, every day or weekdays at a time, once a week, or Custom (advanced) for a cron line in your computer's time.
- When a Telegram message comes: in a chat you allowed, optionally only for a command such as
/price. - When a new file lands in a folder: checked every 5 seconds. Files that were already there do not count.
- When another bot calls it: a Tell other bots step in one bot flies the next one.
Steps include Call an API, Read a page, Check a condition, Ask Jen, Search my documents, Make an image (with the Studio Image pack), Ask me first, Notify me, Send on Telegram, Remember and Tell other bots.
Connections and documents#
- Telegram: create a bot with BotFather and paste its token in Connections > Telegram. A new chat waits until you let it in. Messages go from your computer to Telegram directly.
- Keys: API keys and tokens, saved in Windows Credential Manager. Only the name shows. A key is added only when a Call an API step sends to an address the bot may reach.
- Tools: MCP servers from Hub > Settings that a bot may use.
- Documents tab: price lists, catalogs and notes as PDF, text, Markdown or CSV, up to 20 MB each. They stay on your computer.
- Email, Slack, Discord, WhatsApp, Google Sheets and Webhooks show as Coming later.
Approvals, phone and Ground#
- An Ask me first step stops the flight and waits for Approve or Reject: in Hangar, as a Windows notification, or in Jennefer Mobile under Runs. The first answer counts. Without an answer in 1 hour, the flight fails safely.
- Mobile shows Hangar flights when Use from your phone is on in Hub > Settings and the phone is approved. It also has Ground this bot and Ground all bots.
- The Hub's tray menu grounds every launched bot at once, for example Ground all 3 bots, also while the Hub window is closed.
Where bots run#
Bots fly in the Engine on your computer, also when the Hangar window is closed. While a bot is launched, the Engine stays up as long as the Hub runs, the tray included. Bots do not fly while the computer is off or asleep. A missed scheduled flight is skipped, or flown once when you choose Fly once when back in Settings > Missed flights. Turn on Start with Windows in Hub > Settings so the Hub starts after a restart.
Each Ask Jen step can pick its own model in its Model field. Empty, it uses the Hangar default from Hub > Models > Each app, then the Hub default. Jen's own model is picked under her message box. Flights wait behind the apps you are using for the GPU. See Model choice.
Limits#
| Free | Hangar Pro, All Apps Pro, Team | |
|---|---|---|
| Launched bots | 2 | 25 |
| Shortest schedule | 15 minutes | 1 minute |
| Bot chains | 2 bots deep | 5 bots deep |
| Flight logs kept | 7 days | 90 days |
- Each bot also has Flights a day, Tokens a flight and Timeout (seconds) in Settings > Limits. The timeout is 5 minutes by default, and time spent waiting for your answer does not count.
- At most two flights run at the same time on a computer, and one per bot.
- After 3 failed flights in a row, the bot is Grounded by Jen and you get a notification with the reason.
- The Bots screen shows your plan, for example Free plan · 1 of 2 bots launched · every 15 min at the shortest. See Plans and account.
FAQ#
What do the bot states mean?
Grounded is off, Ready waits for its trigger, In flight is flying, Needs you waits for your answer, and Grounded by Jen stopped after repeated failures.
Can a bot run while my computer is off?
No. Bots fly only on your computer while the Hub runs.
Does the model see my API keys?
No. Steps refer to a key by name, and Hangar adds the value only when it sends to an allowed address. Values never appear in prompts or flight logs.
Does Hangar search the web?
No. Bots read only the pages and addresses in their flight plan. See Agents and the web.
Can I undo a change to a bot?
Yes. Every save is a new version. Settings > Versions lists them. Load puts an old version in the editor, and saving makes it the current one.
